The development plan of Johan Sverdrup phase 2 was formally approved by the Norwegian authorities on May 15. 2019, and is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The oil field is located approximately 93 miles outside of Stavanger, in the North Sea. This is the largest field development since the 1980s’.

Norsk Stål is the proud supplier of large quantities of structural steel to our customer, Aibel, which is building the project for Equinor. Our delivery is approximately 30.000 tons.

The second phase of the project will include the construction of three different platform modules that will be connected upon completion (Source: Aibel).

When the project is completed, its estimated that production will increase from 440,000 barrels of oil per day to 660,000 barrels per day (Source: Equinor).
